Land Rover unveiled the new Range_e plug-in hybrid at the Geneva Motor Show. The car is based on the Range Rover Sport model.
The Range_e is a diesel-electric hybrid that stocks a 242 horsepower 3.0 liter turbo-diesel engine, along with a 93 horsepower electric motor. The total power output is 334 horsepower. All that diesel power is linked to an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox, and the electric motor is powered by a 14.2 kWh lithium-ion battery.
The Range_e can do 20 miles in electric mode, while the total range can reach up to 690 miles on a full tank of diesel fuel.
Land Rover claims that the Range_e plug-in hybrid gets 85 mpg.
The model is still in the testing phase, but Land Rover is developing a production model for the very near future
